“Oh, this would be perfect for the baseball room!” said Bobbie McGrath, longtime stager and owner of Successful Staging LLC, holding up a piece of art from the Raleigh ReStore.

She ran excitedly to the back of the home to place it alongside a collection of other items that would later be staged into a child’s bedroom.

Last week, Raleigh ReStore staff Karen Grace and Laura Chaffin partnered up with Bobbie to stage two Habitat homes with ReStore furniture for the Triangle Parade of Homes.

Every piece of furniture and decor shown in the featured houses was donated to the Raleigh ReStore, and then carefully selected by Karen, Laura and Bobbie.

“I’m visual, so it was difficult to picture without seeing the house first,” Karen said. “We had to really take into consideration size of pieces during the selection process.”

They started with the furniture, then moved to artwork and decor to bring pops of color and style to the different spaces.

The ReStore team, who works to build vignettes in the store on a daily basis, appreciated what they learned from Bobbie about the science behind staging.

The staging days consisted of many back-and-forth trips to the ReStore so the team could collect all the items they needed to bring their vision to life.

It was certainly a team effort. Although Karen and Laura were running point, the rest of the Raleigh team helped keep an eye out for new donations that could help bring the homes to the next level.

History of involvement with the Parade

Triangle ReStores has worked to pool together donated furniture and home goods for the Parade of Homes for the past four years.

“It brings attention to our mission and allows the public to come and see the wonderful job our construction team does, as well as what kind of supplies and materials they put in the homes,” Karen said. “Our part of the process shows the variety in the ReStore and how much things rotate on a daily basis.”

This year, Habitat Wake is showcasing three homes located in Raleigh, Knightdale and Clayton. The Parade is a great opportunity to highlight different styles available to Habitat homebuyers in Wake and Johnston counties, as well as ReStore products—including brand-new cabinets.

The staged homes will be open to the public for two more weekends: October 4-6 and 11-13 from noon-5pm. They are located at:
