When did you start working at Habitat Wake? December, 2002

What is your favorite thing about working for Habitat? The mission first, and then all the great people I've worked with over the years, from staff to volunteers -- it's a great, loving and supportive environment. Plus, I continually realize that most of these people are like-minded, with a passion to serve and make a positive  impact in our communities.

What does your typical work day look like? Meetings and developing plans for expansions. which leads to hiring new staff, setting goals, reporting on financial numbers.

What do you do in your spare time? Yoga, rock climbing with my daughter and a few ReStore staff members,  going to movies with the Husband, gym with Cathryn, and would love to start hiking again (with Shanna).

Do you have any pets or children? 13 year old daughter, Jasmine and two dogs, Lucky and Otis. Also a husband, Daniel. [caption

Favorite meal: Kale, sweet potatoes, roasted beets with raisins, butternut squash soup with quinoa (I'm a vegetarian).

Favorite sport (to play or to watch, or both): I don't watch or play sports. I enjoy yoga and rock climbing, neither are team sports

What are three items on your bucket list?

  1.  Hike to bottom of grand canyon and stay in the cabins at the bottom for a night, then hike up the next day.
  2. Yoga retreat with Deepak Chopra in Costa Rica
  3. See Hamilton in NYC

Dream vacation: Tour around Europe for a month, stopping at all the historic sites and taking guided tours in Italy, France, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, etc... maybe even a Viking Cruise if it's a later time in my life.

Do you have any strange hidden talents? Do crazy yoga moves count? I can stand on my head or forearms for an extended amount of time and I am a yoga instructor.

Favorite place to take out-of-town guests in the Triangle: NC  Museum of Science

Favorite piece you’ve seen or purchased in the ReStore:  I did not purchase this, but loved the two kit homes that were around 800 square feet and circular like a yurt home. Our deconstruction team dismantled them at lest 5 years ago. I had great dreams about purchasing this yurt, and planned to re-assemble it on the wooded lot by my home and turn into a yoga studio, but they both sold for $20,000 to a customer in South Carolina.

Otis and Lucky. Otis and Lucky.
