The Clayton ReStore hosted its grand reopening this past Saturday, November 9! The new location on Highway 42 West is 16,000 square feet larger than the former location and will allow for the sale of a wider range of inventory, including building supplies, new cabinets and flooring.
This past weekend’s grand reopening was a huge success, and the team at Clayton is excited to continue welcoming new shoppers, donors and volunteers to the scene.
“We are thrilled to be able to expand the Clayton ReStore and bring more shopping, donating and volunteering opportunities to Johnston County,” said Patricia Burch, Habitat Wake CEO. “The Johnston County community has been supportive of our work, and we’re excited to grow our presence here.”
The added space and wider selection will allow the store to generate more money to fund Habitat’s mission to build affordable homes in the community.
History and Impact
Habitat opened the first Johnston County ReStore in June 2018, with the store on Highway Business 70. Earlier that year, Habitat Wake and Habitat Johnston had become one organization as part of an effort to bring more resources and support to Johnston County. The Clayton ReStore became the eighth ReStore that Habitat managed in the Triangle at the time and was welcomed warmly by the Johnston County community.
Since then, Habitat volunteers have helped construct 11 new homes in addition to the 18 existing Habitat homes already in Johnston County. A 15-home community is currently underway in Clayton.
If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by the Clayton ReStore to check out what all the buzz is about. You can support our mission by shopping, donating or volunteering at the new location!
